Teplitzky's

I recently grabbed lunch at one of my favorite spots, and I had to share about it ...

Teplitzky's is a diner-inspired Stephen Starr restaurant (reminiscent of Continental and Jones in Philly) in The Chelsea Hotel. The decor is fun, the service is friendly and the food is delish (and inexpensive)!

I sat at the bar (to catch a break from a busy work day) where I had 2 courses and a mocktail (yes, just a mocktail) for under $20! The chicken salad I had was particularly amazing ...

While I was there, I struck up a conversation with Mr. Teplitzky himself (son of the original owner) who was also there having lunch. He pointed to old family photos that hung on the wall and told me how much he liked the updated version.

I loved Teplitzky's so much -- I jumped at the chance to have dinner with a friend there a couple days ago. We had tuna tartar and hummus among other dishes, and afterwards, we went back to the hideaway lounge to have cocktails by the salt water pool.

Thank goodness, for The Chelsea ... my home away from home.

Vintage Madge

First, there was the OJ photo shoot in Bruno. Then I heard it on the radio. Now, I can't get "Like A Prayer" out of my freakin' head. But whatever, it's an amazing, amazing song...and an even better video.

Oh, Gilles...

Saturday night...Borgata was the place to be. mur.mur was hosting Gilles Marini (uber-hottie) and Samantha Ronson (back again!) and MIXX had Jermaine Dupri spinning for a packed house.

When I first arrived, I popped my head into the beautiful new Fornelletto (Stephen Kalt's new Italian concept) to find Gilles & a guest sitting at one of the restaurant's first tables--he was totally on display (and of course looking great).

I then met up with my friends & headed over to mur.mur. We sat at our usual table--the prime location for people watching. Sam had just taken over on the turn-tables, and we stopped over to say "Hi" and take pics with Gilles (Check out Kate's pic above). He's very relaxed, so friendly & even a lil' flirty (shocker, right?).

We then went to MIXX for a bit to check out the Jermaine Dupri party. The place was bursting with dancers & fans eager to see the legendary DJ/artist/producer. He played a lot of classic hip-hop tracks and a MJ tribute set that had the crowd going crazy.

After our intense MJ dance session, we went back to mur.mur. Sam was still killin' it (If you've never heard her Slash guitar remix of "Sweet Child O' Mine, you're missing out. Genius!). I danced the night away. And when I tried to grab one last dance with Gilles, I saw the pack of wild women and said, "ah, maybe next time"...

DUSK

Saturday, I was back at Dusk for the Opening Kick-Off. My girls & gays joined me for what was sure to be a wild night...

It was 4th of July & AC was mobbed. And it seemed like everyone was at Dusk. The line to get in was crazy--stretching through the Caesars casino floor. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait. Our friend at the door (if you think I'm giving up his name--you're crazy) immediately let us through the velvet ropes & we were escorted downstairs.

Dusk has already become one of my favorite spots. The crowd is beautiful (even the bartenders are hot), the drinks come quick & strong, everyone's dancing--and when you need to take a breather--there's the Dawn lounge or the gated area on the boardwalk.

We partied for a bit in the Philly2Night lounge--those boys always know how to have a good time. There was even a reporter there doing a story on how good they are at it! And DJ AM had the crowd on their feet the whole night. He came on the mic at one point & thanked everyone for coming out and gave shout-outs to Jersey, Philly and NY.

We partied long into the early hours, before calling it a night/morning. I can already tell you...Dusk is going to be huge this summer. So make sure you're there and dressed to kill.

All-American Picnic

On Saturday, I met up with some girlfriends for the 4th in Cape May. It was a great beach day! We sat on the sand, soaked up the sun & took in the view (muy caliente surfers).

Afterwards we headed over to Congress Hall for their All-American Picnic. I always make it a point to stop at CH everytime I'm in Cape May. The hotel is stunning & it is always a great scene.

I had to run into Tommy's Folly first to get a La Colombe iced coffee pick-me-up (I was drained from all the sun that day). We then purused the picnic for a minute--listening to Fannie Smith & the AC Jazz Band play "old fashion" favorites for the crowd.
Next, we headed into the Brown Room for a quick drink. The BR is by far one of the best cocktail lounges in South Jersey. It's well designed (with appropraite music & lighting) and the bartenders are friendly & knowledgeable. And the drinks--always superb.

We went back outside, grabbed some gourmet barbeque and took a seat on the lawn. We watched the surf while eating corn on the cob & potato salad--the perfect meal for the 4th!
And the lawn was packed with other families & friends out celebrating! Face painting, a photo both, games & sing-a-longs were among the festivities. There was also a Lobster Bake on the veranda, and the Boiler Room was featuring live music after the fireworks later on in the evening.
